A Letter to Our Students

Dear Education Management, Inc. (dba Blue Cliff College, ABC Training Center and Acadiana Area Career College) Faculty, Staff and Students: Over the past weeks, all of us have watched the growing unrest across our nation resulting from the senseless and tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others before them. These events, coupled with the stress and fear brought on by the Coronavirus, has caused great pain and helplessness for many in our community. Today I write to you on behalf of the Education Management, Inc. community to clearly state that we stand for equality and in full support of those who are peacefully protesting for change. Our mission at Education Management, Inc. has been consistent throughout the years. We strive to create a safe and welcoming place for all faculty, staff and students, which fosters a productive learning and working environment. Every Education Management, Inc. faculty, staff and student is valued and has a voice. Simply put, discrimination or harassment of any individual is unacceptable and goes against our core values. Police brutality, racial inequality, and social injustice are unacceptable and as a society we must do better. This is a time where we should do more listening and seeking to understand the feelings and frustrations of those around us. We must stand together in solidarity and reject all acts of discrimination and violence. We must live with a greater sense of patience, compassion, and empathy towards others. The challenges facing us today may seem larger than any of us can tackle, but my hope is that by each of us personifying the virtues of peace, understanding and unity, we demonstrate that we reject violence and instead strive for a world that is more equal, kind and just. Let us all commit to doing our part. Reginald L. Moore, Sr. President & CEO
