Take The First Step In Your Career Journey Today!

Associate’s Degree or Diploma

So, which online medical program is right for you? If you do not already have a diploma in medical billing and coding or medical assisting, then, our diploma programs are the place to start. Earn your diploma in MOA in nine months or earn your diploma in HIMBC in fifteen months.

Once you have a diploma in HIMBC or if you’ve completed a CMA diploma program, then you may qualify for one of our degree programs. A HIMBC or similar diploma is the prerequisite to enrolling in the 19.5 months HIMBC Degree Program. The 18-month CAMA degree program requires a diploma in medical assisting, such as our Clinical Medical Assisting program.

If you are just beginning your academic journey, consider enrolling in one of our diploma programs. And when you are ready to pursue more advanced professional goals consider continuing your education with one of our degree programs.

Which Program is Right for Me?

All four programs are offered online. Three of the programs end with a Capstone course at the end of the program. A Capstone Course takes all of the skills learned during the duration of the program and applies them to simulated real-world tasks commonly found in the workplace. The CAMA Degree program ends with a Medical Assisting Externship instead of the capstone course.

Medical Office Administration Diploma

The MOA diploma program is designed to prepare students for an entry-level administrative position. The curriculum is designed so that the graduate is prepared for employment in an entry-level administrative position in a physician’s office, a specialized clinic, nursing home, rehabilitation center or hospital.

You will learn about the basics of medical office management including medical office administration, medical administrative procedures, and computer fundamentals. You will also be introduced to business communication, medical language, and professionalism in the medical office workspace. Law and ethics are covered along with electronic health care records.
Billing and collections are covered prior to the MOA capstone course.

The MOA Diploma Program Capstone integrates business communications, office management, law and ethics, billing and collections, and the day-to-day office administrative procedures. Upon successfully completing the program and all other graduation requirements you will be awarded a Diploma in Medical Office Administration.

Health Information Management Billing & Coding

The HIMBC program prepares students for entry-level positions in medical insurance, billing and coding, as well as in medical office administration. Both the diploma and degree programs cover the basics of billing and coding. The degree program also provides additional, advanced training in HIMBC along with General Education requirements common to an Associate’s Degree program. Common areas of employment for those trained in this field include doctors’ offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing care facilities, outpatient care centers, and home healthcare services.

HIMBC Diploma vs Degree

Students interested in the HIMBC Degree program will need to have completed a HIMBC Diploma Program with Blue Cliff College or another approved school. Students enrolled in Blue Cliff’s HIMBC program will receive 65 credit hours for completing their diplomas. There are three ways for students to enroll in and complete the HIMBC Degree Program:

  1. Complete the Blue Cliff College on-campus HIMBC Diploma program with an Externship. Blue Cliff transfers 59 credits for ground campus students with an externship. Students will then complete the balance of the remaining 40 credit hours. 99 total Credit Hours.
  2. Complete the Blue Cliff College online HIMBC Diploma program with the Capstone Course. Blue Cliff transfers 65 credits for online campus students with the Capstone Course. Students will then complete the balance of the remaining 34 credit hours. 99 total Credit Hours.
  3. Complete your HIMBC Diploma at another school. Blue Cliff will evaluate your transcript for transferable classes. Students will then complete the balance of the remaining credit hours. 99 total Credit Hours.

The degree program includes general education courses and advanced billing and coding classes. This could help to prepare students for leadership and advanced roles in this field. While other work experience and certifications will also play a role, degree holders could earn $5-$8 dollars more per hour.

Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting Degree

The CAMA degree program is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position in clinical or administrative medical assisting. The program is designed so that graduates are ready to sit for a medical assistant certification exam and work in entry-level positions at single or multi-physician practices, outpatient centers and hospitals.

You will learn about the basics of both administrative and clinical medical office management including medical office administrative procedures, medical techniques, lab procedures, and more. You will also be introduced to anatomy and physiology, ethics of patient care, and professionalism in the medical office workspace. Law and ethics are covered along with electronic health care records. And since it is a degree program, it includes some General Education course requirements as well.

The CAMA Degree Programs Medical Assisting Externship places students in supervised clinical positions. Students will rotate through multiple supervised positions that have a wide variety of practical applications. This can help students practice what they learned in the classroom and give students a chance to observe doctors, nurses, medical assistants and other health professionals as well. Upon successful completion of the program and all other graduation requirements, students will be awarded an Associate of Occupational Studies in Clinical and Medical Assisting.

Prospective CAMA students are required to complete a diploma program in medical assisting such as Blue Cliff College’s Clinical Medical Assistant program. Blue Cliff will transfer up to 50% of the diploma program credits to the degree program based on the completed course work. You can contact one of our specialists for a transcript evaluation here. The CAMA degree program provides students with additional training and the General Education requirements necessary to achieve an Associate’s Degree. An Associate’s Degree could help you achieve a higher salary and prepare you for leadership and advanced roles in medical assisting.
